Quick Guide to Writing a Great CV
So you’re in the market for a new job. Here’s our quick guide to writing a great CV:
- You don’t need to use the word CV or Curriculum Vitae – your name is what you want them to see so make it a little more bold and at the top of the page
- Update your CV regularly with key successes, achievements and challenges you have overcome positively. Be careful not to use negative language
- Tailor it to the job you are applying for – yes it takes a little more time, but you are looking for the ideal job so it’s definitely worth it – this is your chance to demonstrate that you are a match for the role
- Don’t use buzzwords or jargon – facts and figures are key
- Be honest. If you don’t have all of the required skills, focus on the ones you do have
- Include a short cover letter when sending your CV – ideally to a named person
- Always proofread it and spell check before sending
